About SVMG

SVMG team collaborating on veterinary marketing strategy and digital business growth planning.

Most veterinary marketing fails.

Not because clinics or industry partners aren’t trying, but because the people doing the marketing either haven’t worked inside the industry they’re trying to influence, or come from within it without the marketing experience, capability, and systems required to execute work that performs at a professional level.

  • Good clinics stay invisible. Credible specialists lose ground to less qualified ones.
  • Industry partners invest in assets that never quite connect. Wholesalers, distributors, and suppliers spend real money, and still struggle to get through to the people they’re trying to reach.

The positioning is off. The message is borrowed. Activity is fragmented. And the result looks like marketing, but it doesn’t land. That gap is exactly why SVMG was built.

THE PROBLEM

Running a veterinary business is not like other industries.
Most marketing treats it as if it is.

The way vets think and make decisions is specific. The way their clients search, build trust, and commit is different from almost any other healthcare context. The relationships between practices, specialists, and industry partners carry a professional weight that takes years to understand. And each layer of that ecosystem communicates, decides, and builds trust in a different way.

Yet most marketing applied to veterinary is repurposed from somewhere else. Strategies built for retail. Frameworks borrowed from general healthcare. Content that reads clearly but lands on the wrong frequency.

The problem is rarely effort. It’s comprehension.

“When you understand how an industry actually operates, and have the marketing capability to act on it, you stop guessing. You start building.”

WHAT WE ARE

Not a marketing agency. A veterinary marketing system.

SVMG is a structured approach built specifically for the veterinary industry. It diagnoses before it prescribes. It positions before it produces. It measures what drives results and adjusts based on what’s proven, not assumed.

Whether you’re building market share or protecting it, the requirement is the same. Your business needs to be positioned, understood, and chosen by the right people, for the right reasons.

The veterinary industry is not one audience.

A general practice speaks to pet owners. A referral hospital speaks to GPs. A specialist communicates differently to a colleague than to a client. Industry partners, from drug companies to equipment suppliers, are trying to reach a profession trained to be sceptical of being sold to.

Each business operates differently. Each audience decides differently. Each requires a different kind of clarity to move.

Most marketing ignores that entirely. SVMG is built around it.

Positioning
How your business is understood and chosen before anyone speaks to you.

Structure
The strategy and assets that hold your market presence together and compound over time.

Translation
Making complex, specialised knowledge land clearly with the audiences that matter to your business.
Not templated. Built around how your part of the veterinary industry actually works, who you need to reach, and how those decisions are made.

LEADERSHIP

Deb Croucher — Founder

Deb is a qualified veterinarian. She owned and operated a successful practice in the United Kingdom for fifteen years, then moved to Australia and founded Brilliant Digital, a strategic marketing agency now approaching two decades of operation at a corporate level.

Most people in this space know the veterinary industry or marketing. Very few understand both at depth, from the inside, and how they connect.

Deb knows both.

She spent fifteen years in the profession, not observing it or consulting from a distance, but running a clinic, making the decisions, and managing the pressures that come with practice ownership. She understood early that when clients walk in already informed, already oriented, already trusting, outcomes shift. For the animal. For the owner. For the business. That wasn’t a marketing conclusion. It was a clinical one.

That instinct became a discipline. The discipline became a company. And the company became the foundation on which SVMG was built.

“The edge isn’t understanding the industry. It’s being able to translate it — into positioning that changes how a business is seen and chosen.” — Deb Croucher, Founder

Pete Croucher — Commercial Director.

Pete Croucher — Commercial Director

Pete brings over twenty years of experience in business development and commercial marketing. Pete’s focus is precise: where performance breaks, why it breaks, and how to rebuild it properly.

Where Deb brings veterinary depth and strategic direction, Pete brings commercial discipline. He identifies the gap between what a business offers and how the market currently reads it. He builds the frameworks that close that gap. And he holds outcomes to a standard that strategic thinking alone rarely enforces.

Together, they offer something genuinely uncommon in veterinary marketing: deep clinical understanding, commercial discipline, and long-running marketing capability built specifically for the way veterinary businesses are understood, trusted, and chosen.

INDUSTRY VOICE

Deb speaks, teaches, and writes across the veterinary profession.

Beyond client work, Deb is an active voice in the veterinary industry, speaking at industry events, educating practice owners on marketing fundamentals, and helping professionals understand how positioning and communication affect a business’s health, not just its visibility.

If your organisation is looking for a speaker who brings genuine clinical credibility and hard-won commercial experience to the same platform, that conversation starts here.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Better veterinary marketing isn’t about doing more. It’s about being understood correctly.

When the right audience encounters your business and already understands who you are, what you do, and why it matters, everything that follows works with less resistance. Consultations start from a stronger place. Decisions come faster. The right clients find you. The wrong enquiries fall away.

That’s not a theory. It’s what happens when the right message reaches the right person through the right channel, and when the business behind it is represented with clarity and credibility.

We build for that outcome. Not for output volume, reach figures, or the appearance of momentum. For the moment a prospective client chooses you because you’ve been represented well.

And once that system is in place, it’s actively managed, measured, and refined so it continues to perform as the market shifts.

“The distance between how good a practice is and how it’s perceived — that’s exactly where we work.”

WHO THIS IS FOR

Built for veterinary businesses that take their position seriously.

SVMG works with veterinary practices, specialist clinics, and industry partners who understand the calibre of what they offer and want the market to reflect it accurately, whether they’re speaking to pet owners, referring vets, or the profession itself.

This isn’t for businesses looking for quick wins, outsourced tasks, or surface-level activity. They want a structured approach to how their business is positioned, communicated, and found from someone who understands this industry from the ground up.

If that sounds like your business, we should talk.

I can’t speak highly enough of Deb, Pete and all of the amazing people at Specialist Vet Marketing. From the moment we met, my wife and I felt so at ease, and we truly felt that we were in safe hands. Since that day, among many other things, SVM have helped us launch an amazing website, create beautiful flyers, pamphlets, posters…

Perin Patterson

Deb and her team have helped us create a new website which is a brilliant representation for our team and the service we aim to provide. The team’s communication and understanding was always quick and made the process pretty easy. Her photographer did a fabulous job with both team, action and patient shots….

Nicole Melhem

Deb and the team were wonderful at listening and understanding our needs. They did a fantastic job creating our website which really showcases who we are and what we have to offer. It was great to be able to hand this project over and have everything taken care of to bring our online presence up to the level we needed.

Rachel Korman

We have just had Deb review our plans and revamp our website and as the business director I couldn’t be more happy with the process and the outcome. Deb and her teams attention to detail is second to none and I found the whole process actually inspirational to get on and get our business flying.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, and that distinction is the entire point of SVMG. Most marketing agencies apply general strategies to veterinary clients without understanding how the profession works, how vets make decisions, or how clients in this space build trust. SVMG was founded by a qualified veterinarian and former practice owner. The marketing comes from inside the industry, not from the outside looking in.

SVMG was built specifically for veterinary, not adapted from a broader agency model. The team brings direct experience in veterinary practice ownership, deep knowledge of professional relationships among vets, specialists, and industry partners, and close to two decades of corporate-level marketing execution. That combination is rare. The result is strategy and positioning built on how this industry operates, not how marketers assume it does.

Both. SVMG works with veterinary practices and specialist clinics, as well as with companies and organisations that supply, support, and operate in the veterinary market. If your business needs to be understood, trusted, and chosen by veterinary professionals, we understand that audience from the inside and how they actually make decisions.

The clearest signal is whether your digital presence, your website, search visibility, and how you’re described online, is producing the right kind of enquiries from the right kind of clients. If it isn’t, the issue is almost always the way your clinic is understood before anyone picks up the phone. SVMG diagnoses that gap and builds the structure to close it.

Social media is one channel. On its own, without a clear positioning strategy, a well-structured website, and consistent messaging across all touchpoints, it rarely moves the needle on practice growth or client quality. SVMG works at the level of how your business is represented across the market. Social is one part of a broader system, not a substitute for one.

Yes. Specialist clinics operate in a distinct part of the veterinary market with referral relationships, professional reputation, and a highly specific client base that general marketing rarely serves well. SVMG understands specialist positioning, the GP-to-specialist referral dynamic, and how to build the kind of professional credibility that drives both referrals and direct enquiries.
