The Anaesthesia Vet - Case Study

Veterinary clinic team collaborating at reception featured in SVMG veterinary branding and client engagement.

Dr Kieren Madden, The Anaesthesia Vet, had the expertise, qualifications and advocacy to deliver the gold standard in pet anaesthesia.

She was seeking to launch a brand-new specialist service focused exclusively on high-risk pet anaesthesia and pain management.

Operating as a mobile specialist, the service needed to communicate clinical authority while also providing reassurance to anxious pet owners and championing the importance of quality anaesthesia practices for animals and the benefits to the pet, the pet owner, and the veterinarian.

The challenge was to deliver brand vision without the visibility of a traditional hospital setting.

Everything starts with a strategy

At Specialist Vet Marketing, everything starts with strategy. Working closely with Dr Kieren, the team developed a three-pillar approach built on clarity, empathy and differentiation. At its core sat a clear service positioning: A dedicated anaesthesia specialist offering one-on-one, in-clinic care, working collaboratively with local vets.

The strategy was rolled out in three clear milestones, ensuring direct client input and staged delivery that kept the project on track while allowing the team to evolve the story as they unearthed further opportunities.

“Specialist Vet Marketing has an expert for each part of the process, and each was really good at their role”. Dr. Kieren Madden

Stage one: The brand

The brand was crafted for balance. Clinical credibility was essential to veterinary professionals; however, it also needed to communicate emotional reassurance for pet owners.

Key brand pillars were developed:

Expertise & quality care: A focus on anaesthesia and pain management for high-risk and senior pets.

Personalised & mobile service: One-on-one specialist care delivered directly within the pet’s familiar clinic environment.

Education & support: Positioning the brand as a trusted resource for both pet owners and veterinary professionals.

Messaging frameworks were developed for two distinct audiences:

  • Pet Owners: Empathetic, reassuring, and educational.
  • Veterinary clinics, expert-to-expert, collaborative messaging focused on improved outcomes, reduced risk, and client retention.

The visual identity supported this approach with calm, professional colours, soft imagery, and a tasteful logo system that reinforced trust and care.

Stage two: The website is built for two audiences

The team went to work, designing and building the website in WordPress with a clear dual-path user experience: one for pet owners and one for veterinary partners.

The website’s key elements included:

  • Clear explanations of anaesthesia, pain management and high-risk cases in an owner-friendly language
  • Dedicated sections for referring clinics outlining collaboration, workflows and benefits
  • Strong calls to action tailored to each audience
  • An SEO and AEO-informed site structure to support long-term organic growth
  • A foundation for an educational content hub to answer common AI- and search-driven questions

The result was a website that communicated clinical authority and emotional support. It encourages pet owners to explore and understand the role of high-standard anaesthesia without overwhelming them, and to give veterinary clinics the level of trust and motivation they need to seek specialised anaesthesia services for their patients.

Stage three: Marketing lead growth through education

The team developed a soft-launch marketing framework. It was important for Dr Kieren to build trust before conversion and to be in a position to effectively service enquiries and bookings. We settled on an educational marketing approach that included:

  • Search-led content strategy focused on real pet owner concerns
  • Long-form educational blogs addressing anaesthetic risk, senior pets, and pain management
  • Monthly newsletters for referring clinics and opt-in pet owners
  • Social media content sharing, education, reassurance and case insights
  • Ongoing reporting and strategy reviews to guide future growth

Rather than aggressive promotion, this strategy aligned with the brand and helped position The Anaesthesia Vet as the safest option for complex cases.

“By aligning brand, website and marketing under a cohesive strategy, even highly specialised veterinary services can grow through education-led, trust-first marketing.”

The outcome

Although still early in the journey, the results have been promising.

Since launch, The Anaesthesia Vet has seen:

  • Steady bookings from referring clinics
  • Strong early engagement with educational content
  • Positive feedback from veterinary partners

The groundwork has been laid for long-term growth as awareness of specialist anaesthesia services continues to rise.

This project demonstrates the power of a fully integrated approach. By aligning brand, website and marketing under a cohesive strategy, Specialist Vet Marketing helped The Anaesthesia Vet enter the market successfully, proving that even highly specialised services can grow through education-led, trust-first marketing.

As Dr Kieren says, “Having never done anything like this before, I wasn’t sure what to expect or how the process would work. What surprised me the most was the team. Specialist Vet Marketing has an expert for each part of the process, and each was really good at their role. They took the time to listen, interpreted my messaging and understood my mission, and thoroughly understood the vet industry. This knowledge really came through in the product they delivered. I wasn’t overly looking forward to going through the process; however, it turned out to be fun, and I really enjoyed it. As I continue working with them, it is clear they are very professional and efficient”
